Julie Blakeney

Founder, Jailbird Communications

Julie Blakeney is the founder of Jailbird Communications, an independent Dublin agency specialising in PR, social media, influencer marketing and culturally relevant consumer campaigns.

Julie founded Jailbird in 2020 after nearly 20 years working across communications for Irish and international brands. She created the agency to give clients senior, direct advice alongside ambitious creative work and hands-on delivery.

Her experience is particularly rooted in consumer and FMCG communications. Under Julie’s leadership, Jailbird has developed work for brands including Bulmers, Corona, HelloFresh, Insomnia Coffee, O’Briens Wines and Lyons Tea. In 2026, Jailbird Communications and Bulmers Ireland won Best Consumer Campaign at the PRCA Spotlight Awards for the Bulmers 90th Anniversary campaign.

Julie contributes to industry and public conversations about communications, brands, culture and younger audiences. Her commentary has appeared in ShelfLife Magazine, and Jailbird research has led to broadcast interviews and coverage concerning social media, youth engagement and voting behaviour.

Julie is a board member of Dublin Fringe Festival. Dublin Fringe records her appointment in February 2022 and describes her experience in PR, social media and sponsorship for Irish and global brands and organisations.
