Public Relations Intern Job Spec:
We are looking for a public relations intern to join our Jailbird communications team. In this role, you will be working closely with the team and assisting with the writing of media releases, coordinating content creator activity, conducting research, helping to compile reports and much more.
To be a successful PR intern, you must be confident in dealing with people in person and on the phone/ Zoom. You must have basic skills in copywriting and social media marketing. Ultimately, an outstanding PR intern should be able to build relationships with the media, content creators, and company suppliers while constantly supporting the team and, ultimately, the growth of the Jailbird business.
Communications Intern Responsibilities:
Supporting the team in implementing the company’s PR strategy.
Creating engaging content for media releases, content creator brief’s and social media platforms.
Updating and maintaining the company’s social media pages with a willingness to come up with new ideas and follow through on those ideas.
Building relationships with clients and potential clients, suppliers, and the media.
Providing assistance to the team with the scheduling and organising of meetings, events etc.
Giving input on marketing initiatives and suggesting creative ways to add to client campaigns.
Conducting research on various topics
Monitoring of media coverage on events and media releases that were issued and creating press clippings.
Updating media lists.
Compiling gifting boxes and outreach lists
Performing administrative duties.
Communications Intern Requirements:
Completion of BA or BSc degree in public relations, communication, or journalism.
Excellent understanding of various social media platforms, including TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Efficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Basic budget management skills to track spending on sponsorships, events, and marketing material.
Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with customers.
Good research and analytical skills.
The ability to prioritise your workload and keep to strict content deadlines.
Willingness to attend events after hours and on weekends.
Knowledge of copywriting and editing.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
A ‘can do’ attitude along with a sense of humour
